SAYING "I DO" ON THE RIVER BANK

A beautifully draped gazebo on a decked landing just off the bank of the Pienaar’s River – the perfect setting for an unusual wedding day… the guests wait in anticipation as the groom prepares to meet his bride for the very first time. It is episode 3 of Married at First Sight South Africa season 2, which started airing on 6 October 2017 on Lifetime DStv Channel 131.

After a gruelling and intensive matching process, six participants were chosen to tie the knot with complete strangers. Roodevalley Faircity Hotel pulled out all the stops to create an extraordinary wedding day for one of the three brave couples.

The hotel lies on the banks of the Pienaar’s River in Pretoria, surrounded by a nature reserve and a bird sanctuary. It makes for a peaceful, country setting that is still near enough to city conveniences in case you forget something at home.

A wedding involves so many different aspects and every tiny detail counts. With the help of generous and romance-loving sponsors, everything was top notch. Amongst the sponsors was the Cake Brothers, décor by Mogaleadi, Vividimages Photography, violinist Kristel Birkholtz, Studio 10 Entertainment and Earth Rituals.

“In this day and age, with so many ways to meet people using technology, it is very interesting to go back to the old tradition of arranged marriages, although with a modern spin of course. It is also fascinating to watch how these relationships evolve over a period of six weeks, from meeting at the altar for the first time, up to the point that the couples decide if they want to stay married. We were thrilled to host the couple, their families and the crew of Married at First Sight, and extremely proud to show off our stunning venue. With a choice of versatile indoor and outdoor spaces, we are well equipped to cater for almost any type of wedding”, explained Paul Duverge, General Manager of Roodevalley Faircity Hotel.

“We were so excited to have one of our stunning couples hosted by Roodevalley Faircity Hotel. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and fairytale-like experience. We are extremely grateful for the effort that Faircity went to accommodate everyone, from our couple to our crew. They put their heart and soul into making this a truly special occasion”, said producers of the show, Oxyg3n Media.

Unfortunately it was not a happily ever after for 41-year old Gaven Taele, who was left at the altar by his match, 27-year-old Lebo Diutlwileng.

Paul Duverge added, “Although it was not the wedding day celebration we had expected, we hope that Gaven and Lebo are both able to find their perfect match one day, perhaps even get the opportunity to meet each other and see if sparks fly. You just never know!”

PET FRIENDLY WEDDING VENUE - WARTHOGS BUSH CAMP

If you can’t bear the thought of walking down the aisle without both your best friend and fiancée, you should stop by Warthogs Bush Camp in Magaliesburg. The pet friendly Warthogs Bush Camp is now open for weddings with your furry friends as ring bearers, confetti carriers and givers of wet sloppy kisses to anyone within arm reach.

Set just 2km from Askari Game Lodge & Spa in Magaliesburg, Warthogs Bush Camp is a wonderful venue for bush-weddings as they are quite happy to tailor-make any event to suit your requirements. If bush hospitality and simplicity is your thing, you would love the unpretentious but hearty brunch on offer which includes pap, wors and eggs, to dinner themes around braai menus, spit braais and potjiekos recipes.

“As I approached the venue, my creative mind kicked into high gear”, says Christa Badenhorst, Group Marketing Manager of Guvon Hotels & Spas. “The main reception area is an impressive thatch dome and this is the ideal spot to welcome your wedding guests with a special wedding themed cocktail and small canapes or snacks.”

Choosing a photographer

HOW TO CHOOSE A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

When planning a wedding, one of the most important considerations the bridal couple will have to make is the choice of a photographer.

You may be tempted to let Uncle Harry take your wedding photos on your big day with his compact camera. Friends and family may even suggest handing out single-use cameras to all the guests, but whilst both these options are inexpensive and might (perhaps) even produce some half decent pictures, hiring a professional photographer for your wedding will ensure that you have many beautiful photographs to show for it.

I have met couples who approach the selection of their wedding photographer almost as an after-thought. They tend to get so caught up with all the fun and visual wedding details the guests will see such as e.g. the cake, the wedding decor, the gown, etc. – but they often do not consider that selection of the wedding photographer is just as important. After all, who will record all those fun moments and visual details?!

To shop for a wedding photographer is not the same as selecting a gown or a bridal bouquet. When selecting your gown or bouquet you can see something tangible before you make your decision, but with the selection of your photographer, you are, in some instances, at the mercy of a super-salesperson or your own intuition.

With many couples PRICE is usually the main determining factor, even though there is NEVER going to be a second chance. Unfortunately there has never been anything written that gives the couple a true guideline as to how to select the one person who could supply them with a heart full of memories to last a lifetime.

SO, how do you find the right wedding photographer with the personality and the photographic style that is right for you? What are the latest styles, and why should you choose digital, color, or black-and-white images? What kind of album presentation will you want? How much should you expect to pay? These are only some of the important factors that you will have to consider in choosing a wedding photographer.

Creating a gift registry

AN ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO CREATE A GIFT REGISTRY

Selecting the items to include on your gift registry for your wedding day does not have to be complicated. This article is designed to make creating your gift registry as stress-free as possible.

Where do I begin?
Before you start looking at items to include on your registry, you should speak to your fiance about what you want and look at what you might already have between you. The two of you should discuss your lifestyle, your preferences and what you really need, as well as "nice-to-haves".
