Wellington Wines is a private company based in Wellington in the Western Cape of South Africa. With a proud heritage and a history going back 106 years, making it one of the oldest wine companies in South Africa. We are a member owned company with 98 shareholders who are the inspiration behind our fantastic range of wines.
The Wellington region is home to 98% of the Vine Nurseries supplying the South African wine industry with root stocks, hence ‘Wellington – where wines are born’.
Wellington Wines produces 26 million litres of quality wine annually and has a production capacity across our three winemaking facilities of 35 000 tonnes. Our 30 different grape varieties are planted on 3100 hectares of some of the finest terroir in South Africa.
Our 6 highly skilled Winemakers work with 17 red cultivars including varieties like Malbec, Mourvedre, Grenache, Pinot Noir and Barbera. The 13 white cultivars include exciting niche varieties like Grenache Blanc, Rousanne, Viognier and Semillon.
Wellington Wines specialises in the native South African varietals of Chenin Blanc and Pinotage and has significant production of the Big Five – Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon.
Wellington Wines commitment to quality is paramount and we have BRC (Grade A) accreditation as well as WIETA, Fairtrade and IPW, in addition to full certified traceability.
